ABOUT
I’m Olivia Hancock, a beauty journalist and podcast host. Currently, I work at Byrdie as an Editor. You’ll find me writing about trending beauty stories, reviewing the buzziest products, and celebrating diverse voices in beauty. When I’m not typing away, I’m chatting with inspiring Black beauty founders and creators on my podcast, The Hue Report.
I fell in love with journalism as a young girl growing up in Connecticut, where I spent countless hours writing stories and flipping through magazines. I began gaining editorial experience during high school by writing for local lifestyle and entertainment publications, including PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT (formerly known as Teen Diaries). During the summer of 2019 and 2020, I worked as an editorial intern for Byrdie—which confirmed my passion for beauty journalism. As a writer, my mission is to amplify diversity and representation in the beauty industry.
In December 2020, I graduated from Georgia State University with a B.A. in Journalism and a minor in African-American Studies.
In addition to Byrdie, my writing has appeared on Shape, Hello Giggles, Atlanta Magazine, xoNecole, 21Ninety, Her Campus, and other publications. Throughout my career, I’ve been able to interview celebrities such as Saweetie, Storm Reid, Marsai Martin, Teyana Taylor, Andra Day, and more.
