I Ate at Local Green Atlanta, Here's What It Was Like

From vegan cafes to soul food sit-downs, come with me as I travel to some of the coolest food spots in Atlanta and taste test the most popular items on their menu. Up first in my Lunch with Liv series, Local Green Atlanta.

Since opening in January, Local Green Atlanta has become one of the most popular healthy food spots in the city. The restaurant is doing important work in the Atlanta community as they are introducing pescatarian, vegetarian and vegan options to underserved communities to reduce health disparities.

When you arrive at the cafe, you are immediately welcomed by the friendly staff, cute decor, and the sounds of your favorite R&B jams.

I picked up a menu — which follows a Hip-Hop theme — and got in line to order. At the restaurant, they serve up everything from fish to fresh smoothies. When I was deciding what to eat, cool menu items like "Rappers Delight" Salmon Vegan Cheese Philly and “Bad & Boujee” Tuna Wrap really caught my eye.

But this visit, I decided to go for the salmon sliders and a shrimp kale salad. I also tried their signature lemonade, which is infused with fresh cucumber and cilantro. And to be honest, the lemonade was a winner in my book!

I’m a fan of any type of slider, and these didn’t disappoint. The salmon patties are topped with homemade slaw, tomato, gourmet pickles, peach mango salsa, sriracha-mayo, and cilantro lime sauce. The shrimp and kale salad was fresh and flavorful as well.

Local Green Atlanta’s health initiatives along with their delicious dishes are just a few of the reasons why I’ll definitely be heading back there for lunch in the future! Learn more about the restaurant, by visiting their website.
