The 16 Beauty Products I'm Loving + Trying | March 2020
With social distancing becoming a part of our new normal for now, sticking to my usual beauty regimen has provided me with some semblance of a routine. Taking time to do my beauty routine and play with new products every day gives me a much-needed moment to unplug from the world (which is super necessary right now) and focus on self-care.
Since we’re all home more than usual, I’ve had more time to sift through my beauty product collection and discover some really amazing products. Over the past few days, I’ve added some brand new items into my routine and fallen back in love with some products I picked up or received months ago. I’ve even started a list of products that I plan to test out over the next couple of days and weeks.
From skincare to fragrance, these are the 15 beauty products I’m loving and trying this month:
Products I’m Loving
Camille Rose Coconut Water Leave-in Detangling Hair Treatment ($14): Like most curly girls, my hair gets dry (like, really dry). My hair also tangles very easily and every few days I find myself trying to work through all of the fairy knots in my hair. This detangling conditioner has made getting rid of the knots so much easier. It leaves my curls looking fresh and smelling even better thanks to the coconut water.
Nubian Heritage Coconut & Papaya Body Lotion ($22): Everyone needs a great body lotion… and this is it. It keeps my entire body moisturized all day. And I have to add, the coconut and papaya fragrance smells delicious.
Cantu Avocado Hydrating Curling Cream ($15): After I detangle my hair with the Camille Rose Detangling Hair Treatment, I’ve been following it up with this curling cream. It contains a hydrating blend of avocado, shea butter, mango butter, and coconut oil. I refreshed my hair with this product the other day and my curls immediately looked more moisturized and defined.
UpCircle Coffee Face Scrub for Sensitive Skin ($16): I’ve been looking for a gentle exfoliant and I’ve been impressed with this one from UpCircle. The scrub is made from Arabica coffee grounds and also contains chamomile and jojoba oil. My skin is so soft and glowy after using this.
UpCircle Cleansing Face Balm ($24): So, this is my first time using a cleansing balm and now I understand why everyone raves about them. This one is made with a potent mix of apricot powder, blackcurrant seed, blue tansy and sea buckthorn oils. After using, my skin is deeply cleansed and hydrated.
Labruna Skin Care Nourishing Face Oil ($50): I love a good face oil and I’ve kept this one in rotation lately. It’s packed with good-for-you ingredients like Goji and Moringa and gives my skin an amazing glow.
Color Street 100% Real Nail Polish Strips ($11-$13): Since nail salons are closed, it’s encouraged me to start doing my own nails. These nail polish strips make it super easy to achieve a beautiful manicure. They come in solid colors and prints. Needless to say, I’m obsessed.
Glossier Futuredew ($24): I picked this up from the Glossier pop up in Atlanta earlier this month. It came highly recommended by the employees at Glossier. It delivers a radiant, dewy glow.
Fenty Beauty Pro Kiss’r Luscious Lip Balm ($18): Fenty Beauty can honestly take all my coins anytime. Lip balms are a must-have all year round and this one stays on me at all times.
Carolina Herrera Good Girl ($28-$119): This is my go-to fragrance and both my mom and aunt love it as well. The key notes are Tuberose, Jasmine, and Tonka Bean. The notes create a warm floral scent that is long-lasting.
Products I’m Excited to Try
Camille Rose The Hair Grower ($5): In celebration of Madam C.J. Walker’s legacy, Camille Rose decided to recreate Walker’s first product, the hair grower. It’s a scalp conditioner and moisturizer. As someone who experiences dry scalp often, I can’t wait to give this a go. By the way, you can check out my recent interview with Camille Rose’s founder, Janell Stephens, here.
Cantu Avocado Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner: I’m constantly switching up my hair routine. I already love Cantu’s Curling Cream from their avocado line, so I’m confident that I’ll be happy with the shampoo and conditioner as well.
Nubian Heritage Coconut & Papaya Body Wash ($12): Some body washes can strip the skin of much-needed moisture. But this one contains a moisturizing mixture of coconut oil, shea butter, aloe vera and papaya. The smell alone makes me want to lather up in it immediately.
Klei Spearmint and Lavender Facial Steam ($28): I’ve never tried an at-home facial steam before, so this is high up on my list of things to try. The blend of herbs and florals in this steam have calming properties and deeply cleanse the pores.
Labruna Skin Care Natural Retinol Face Serum ($28): I have a few serums in my collection, but I’m really interested in trying this one from Labruna Skin Care. It contains several vitamins and plant oils and will help with reducing fine lines and aging. And unlike chemical retinol, this one can be used during the day.
